Safe care for life! World Patient Safety Day 2026

Safe care for life! Join us in celebrating World Patient Safety Day on 17 September 2026.

Every year on 17 September, the global healthcare community marks World Patient Safety Day, an initiative led by the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness of patient safety and promote actions that reduce avoidable harm in healthcare facilities.

This year’s theme, “Safe care for noncommunicable diseases”, is accompanied by the campaign slogan “Safe care for life!” The campaign highlights the importance of safe care for noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, and other long-term conditions. As people living with chronic conditions often require lifelong care across multiple healthcare settings, ensuring safety at every stage of the care journey is essential.

On and around 17 September, healthcare organizations, professionals, policymakers, patients and communities worldwide will participate in awareness campaigns, educational events, policy discussions, and community initiatives to advance safer healthcare for all.

At SARAYA, we are proud to join the global observance of World Patient Safety Day and support the shared visions of safer care for every person, at every stage of life. Through our high-quality products and innovative solutions, we strive to support healthcare professionals in delivering safer care and improving patient outcomes. Together with our partners and the wider healthcare community, we can reduce preventable harm, strengthen healthcare systems, and contribute to better care for every patient.

Together, we support the vision of Safe care for Life!

Objectives of World Patient Safety Day 2026:

  1. Raise global awareness of patient safety challenges associated with NCDs across the continuum of care through a primary health care approach while considering disease-related factors, health system challenges and determinants of health that may increase the risk of harm.
  2. Promote the meaningful engagement of people living with NCDs and communities, in identifying safety risks and co-developing solutions with health practitioners, organizational leaders and policy-makers.
  3. Encourage stakeholders to integrate patient safety principles across NCD-related legislation, policies, strategies and programmes, with an emphasis on strengthening PHC-oriented health systems.
  4. Support health workers in strengthening patient safety practices such as safer diagnosis, medication safety and meaningful patient engagement.
